{"id":7071,"date":"2018-05-11T10:34:30","date_gmt":"2018-05-11T09:34:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.apprendre-le-violon-jazz.com\/exercise-to-improvise-on-minor-swing\/"},"modified":"2018-05-11T10:34:30","modified_gmt":"2018-05-11T09:34:30","slug":"exercise-to-improvise-on-minor-swing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.apprendre-le-violon-jazz.com\/en\/exercise-to-improvise-on-minor-swing\/","title":{"rendered":"Exercise to improvise on Minor Swing"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1><iframe src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/26skuTPSzbE\" width=\"560\" height=\"314\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe>Exercise to improvise on Minor Swing<\/h1>\n<h2>Bring out the major sixth over the minor chords of Minor Swing<\/h2>\n<p>On the A minor chord, you can use different modes: Aeolian, Dorian, Melodic etc.<\/p>\n<p>Dorian and melodic modes are characterized by a MAJOR sixth (or thirteenth).<\/p>\n<p>This color is particular to gypsy jazz since guitarists prefer to play <strong>minor chords with the major sixth<\/strong> rather than the seventh.<\/p>\n<p>To make a minor chord, they would therefore play degrees 1-3-5-6.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h3>THE SCALES<\/h3>\n<p>Even if we don&#8217;t go in-depth on scales in this exercise, I share with you as a hint 3 scales that can be used on minor chords.<\/p>\n<p>On a minor chord, you can use:<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; the natural minor scale (Aolian mode)<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p>Dorian Minor Mode<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>the melodic minor scale<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Dorian and melodic modes are characterized by the major sixth, it is from these modes that it comes!
